In-editor dictionary and thesaurus — press ⌘' (or use the command palette) to look up the word under your cursor without leaving the draft.
Reference lookup keeps dictionary and thesaurus work beside the draft: press Command-' (shown as ⌘') on the word under your cursor, or open the command palette and search for the lookup. The panel opens without forcing you into another app that breaks writing rhythm mid-scene or mid-paragraph.
Results can include definitions, synonyms, antonyms, near-meanings, rhymes, and a frequency cue for how common an option is. Pick a replacement and it drops in with formatting intact in Plot and Canvas. That is the difference between a real in-editor tool and a copy-paste scavenger hunt across browser tabs.
Any online enrichment of definitions or thesaurus results is clearly labelled and can be disabled in Settings. Your draft stays yours; turn enrichment off when a room policy or personal preference wants offline-only lookup behavior during drafting or notes. Keep that standard visible when notes arrive so the next pass stays honest.
